WEST MIFFLIN (KDKA) ― Verizon says phone service should be restored sometime Wednesday for hundreds of people living in four local neighborhoods.
Recent storms literally washed away service in Munhall, Homestead, West Mifflin and Whitaker.
Water damaged several phone cables and flooded manholes making it difficult for crews to get to the lines and fix them.
Verizon says three of the damaged cables should dry out, restoring service. The fourth needs to be replaced, but crews are working around the clock to get that work done.
The outage is not affecting cell phone service. A phone bank has been set up at West Mifflin No. 1 fire department on Greensprings Avenue.
