(KDKA) Crews continue the process of restoring phone service to Verizon customers in the Steel Valley today.
The recent stormy weather damaged phone cables in Munhall, Homestead, West Mifflin and Whitaker. Crews also had trouble getting to the lines because of flooding in the manholes.
Officials with Verizon now say three of four damaged cables have been dried out, but more work is still needed to fix the problem.
Verizon crews say the last of the cables will be spliced together today and that process could last two days.
The outage has not affected cell phone service.
