STEEL VALLEY EARTH DAYS 2009

Our clean-up campaign begins on
April 18t and ends April 24th

STEEL VALLEY OFFICIALS

SEEK VOLUNTEERS AND SPONSORS

FOR GREAT AMERICAN CLEAN-UP OF PA

Steel Valley Officials are seeking volunteers and sponsors for a community wide clean-up week throughout the entire Steel Valley as part of the Great American Clean-up of PA. Our clean-up campaign begins on April 18t and ends April 24th

The Great American Clean-up of PA is a statewide clean-up campaign involving local and state government, businesses, waste haulers, environmental and civic groups. The PA Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) and the Department of Transportation (PennDOT), in cooperation with Keep Pennsylvania Beautiful, Inc., are sponsoring the Great American Clean-up of PA. The Steel Valley communities are involved again this year as they have been for the last eleven years. Gloves, safety vests, bags and dumpsters will be available throughout the communities, and additional street sweeping will occur during that week as well.

Individuals, Steel Valley School District children, scouting groups and environmental clubs, are invited to be part of this effort. Gloves, trash bags and safety vests will be provided and dumpsters will be located throughout various areas within the Steel Valley. We are also looking for local businesses to help sponsor the clean-up by providing refreshments or other supplies. Mama Pepinos will be providing lunch for the Allegheny County Sheriffs Department Camp Cadet group who will begin our program on April 18
th and Chick fil a has generously offered to provide lunch for the students on April 22nd. Target has also agreed to be a sponsor this year.

We are continuing to look for additional sponsors and volunteers. Please talk to your neighbors and officials of our Steel Valley communities in helping to make a (Clean) difference in our area. Please contact Denise Kelly at (412) 462-7272 or by email at: homesteadwns@aol.com for additional information.
