Pay It Forward Day in West Mifflin, Pittsburgh, PA 5/31/2009 @ 3:00 pm
It’s all about positive energy and community pride on Sunday, May 31st at 3pm! Volunteers from teens to senior citizens will meet at the Hot Metal Diner on Route 885, West Mifflin, to prove a point: we can all come together to celebrate our community and the “Pay it Forward” movement, doing good deeds and asking only that others will do the same.Community pride is alive and well in the borough of West Mifflin and across the state, as shown by the army of workers who will demonstrate their enthusiasm by bringing along garden tools and a lot of energy to plant scores of flowers in an island strip of almost 1000 feet in length.
Wendy Betten of Hot Metal Diner fame has organized the effort in cooperation with a number of business owners and residents who share in the belief that community pride is demonstrated by example.
"Some of those who have donated time and effort to make this happen," she said, “include Mayor John Andzelik, former police officer Richard Fialkovich, the owners of Hot Metal Harley Davidson and the owners of Oriental Gardens. Without their support this community effort might never have materialized."
Many West Mifflin residents will attend, but EVERYONE is encouraged to join in our project.
If the parking lot is full, please beep your horns. We'll know you support our cause and our message.
